This interview came about in the best way: through the library. Emily Sun of Perth, Australia, checked “Famous Adopted People” out of her local library, thinking it was a non-fiction book. She read the book, loved it, and kindly asked to interview me.
I’m not big in Japan, but my dear friend Melodie Cook is. With over 20 years residency, she is married to a Japanese man and a leader in the English-teaching community, as well as being the parent to an adopted and a foster child. She was kind enough to interview me for her wildly popular column in Savvy Tokyo.
So wonderful to be interviewed by fellow Korean adoptee, Marci Calabretta Cancio-Bello, for Electric Literature. As an adoptee, she really understood the intent of “Famous Adopted People”: shattering the myths and stereotypes surrounding adoption.
